In every instance made in all of the Dire mauls, there is a chest spawn & usually a dusty tome locations. In the west, there are four spots in the chest.
DM North:
- Near the Southwest Corner in Fengus’ Courtyard
- The ramp is located near where Slip’kik is patrolling and has a fenced-in area.
- In front of the Observer
DM East:
- Near Lethtendris
- In the massive drop-down area near the entrance, in the middle of an east-facing wall.
- The ledge’s northern end (directly just above the big door) is between a group of lashers and a large tree.
- The Shrine of Eldretharr. (End of the instance) by the root Alzzin the Wildshaper is walking up to).
DM West:
- This is the Southwest Corner of the original courtyard
- Inside the Immol’thar’s room, you will find a Pylon on the left when you walk in (hall entrance and not the library).
Pre 1.10 Solo Method
The first tome that can be used as a solo farm is found in the very first courtyard. You walk into DM West via the left door. Take a walk to the wall to your left and gaze North. You can search for the book with the ability to see ( Eye of Kilrogg, Mind Vision… or buy the Ornate Spyglass). In the case of an ornate Ornate Spyglass, press the button to crouch to see a more incredible view. You’ll see two benches and three and four petrified Treants strolling about (they’re the tiny trees). Find a frank red book on the ground, where they are walking, and between the bear and deer statues. One in seven may have a book on the floor. (Note the Terrain Distance, under Video Options, is unavoidable when you use the Spyglass).
To find the book, walk across the courtyard, keeping clear of the police (this isn’t easy and requires some practice, but it isn’t too tricky.) You can distract from the 4 Petrified Trants by some means — fear, AE fear, or pets tanking or something similar, loot the book and then run.

Soloing in the Lethtendris book
This method alone requires the player to have stealth. That is, being a Rogue or a Druid is very beneficial.
The route starts with the shorter cut direction into DM East. From here, go straight ahead and then jump onto the high edge. Do not drop down. Continue along the edge until you reach the point where you can say goodbye to the trees and then enter your Demons location; make a right turn once you come to the wall, and you will see an entrance on your right. Be cautious when you’ve made it this far because there’s a wild spawn shadow stalker who is scouting the area and can detect your concealment. After he’s gone, proceed to the right and through the door toward the other edge of the room’s far end. There is a staircase that leads up to the top level. If you follow that path, you’ll soon be able to see Lethtendris and her hound, Pimgib. In the far left part of this floor, there’s a point of spawn place for your book. It’s either there, or you’ll need to reset the device and give it another chance. If you’re finished with empty hands or an item, either die or get out, then reset the instances. However, you’re only allowed to be only five times each hour. Therefore, make sure you are aware!
Alternate strategy
This method alone requires stealth that is, having the skills of a Rogue or a Druid can help greatly.
Start in the back entrance to enter DM East (via the pavilion north of Camp Mojache). In the first room, make sure you hug left to keep from breaking the warpwood sphere at the root of the tree. After you have cleared 2 roaming lashers, strafe left to the center line of the room. Line with the warpwood Pod to the left. It is important to not explode another warpwood pod (to your left by three demons) and causing aggro to the Shadowstalker (to to your left). When you are at the two wandering lashers, you should strafe to the left and direct your focus on the demon that is visible to the left at the far end of the room. The aim is to keep from popping the warpwood pods left (the one you first targeted) or to your right (hidden behind the large branch of the tree). Pay attention to the lashers, and try to avoid hitting them. A couple of steps prior to bumping into the demon you’re targeting, strafe left to focus on the tunnel. The tunnel will be entered. The tunnel is home to one roaming elite level 56 (usually) Shadowstalker that you must kill. This should be easy for anyone with a level 60 druid or rogue. Follow the remainder of the tunnel, then turn left to enter the next demon room. Make sure to stay in the middle of the ramp, and then walk in a straight line through the area. There are warpwood pods on from the left (between one demon at a time and the initial lasher) and afterward on the right (under the pergola) So, ensure you keep a straight line. Prior to the final pillar, try to turn left and walk through the wall. There’s another rogue Shadowstalker that is located via the round ramp below the Lethtendris ramp, and can be a nuisance if you are too close. Make your way to the top of Lethtendris ramp and you’ll be able to see Lethtendris along with her imp. Look around the edge of the platform to find the book (visible when you have climbed on the ramp). If it’s there, or not, stay on the platform, and then head back in the direction you came from. When you are done, jump down and then return in the same manner.
