Rakghoul Serum Side Quest – Taris (Kotor 1)( Updated 2023)
It is believed that the rakghoul serum was an anti-malarial that treated the plague of rakghouls that, once it infected one person, could turn the patient to the form of a Rakghoul.
In the Jedi Civil War, a specimen that contained the cure was developed by Republic scientists, and duplicated several thousand times to treat the Outcasts in the restoration of the Republic’s Taris. The Republic was home to an bases within Taris’s Upper City as the central point of restoration and also the place where the scientist developed the cure. However there was a problem. The Sith armies took notice that the world was in trouble and took over. After shoring the Republic out the base, they seized control of their base. They also took over the base. Troopers of the Sith utilized samples of the rakghoul serum for patrolling in the Undercity looking for the destroyed Republic escape pods that were escaped from their devastated Endar Spire. The Sith encountered so many times with the rakghouls that the had run out of serum when Revan arrived in the Undercity however, certain troopers who were killed were carrying serum samples in their bodies.
In his search to escape Taris, Revan found a sample of the serum in the Undercity and passed it on the Zelka Forn who was Zelka Forn, the Upper City doctor. He made the serum and distributed the serum to all who were infected and then gave it to the healer of Outcasts Esala who utilized it to treat Infected Outcasts on their way towards their journey to the Promised Land. As they entered their destination, the Promised Land, it was not what they had hoped for. The infrastructure, buildings and defenses had all were destroyed with the Sith. With no defences in place, the rakghouls were able to attack Outcasts however, the spread of the disease was stopped through the use of the serum. The rakghouls grew however, and, over the course of several generations, they developed immune systems to this serum. There was no defense against the spreading of rakghoul virus, and with an ill-fated and bombed-out world around them, the Outcasts were eventually eradicated out.
In 3643 BC The rakghoul serum was rediscovered by pirates who found an unused sample in Zelka Forn’s abandoned second medical facility located in the Undercity. The serum was then given to an unnamed Jedi and then found its way into hands of the Republic doctor. The rakghouls, however, were immune to the serum before the Outcasts were eliminated, which means that it wasn’t as efficient three hundred years after. A new serum had to be developed and, for it to be effective, a person was required to be infected in order to generate new antibodies. They can then be examined and synthesized. The controlled infection was then spread to the subject and the antibodies were analyzed and a new, better serum was made and, once more it was created in large numbers.
